Everything about The Federation Of Student Islamic Societies totally explained
The
Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) is a national
umbrella organisation aimed at supporting and representing Islamic societies at colleges and universities in the
United Kingdom and the
Republic of Ireland. FOSIS was established in 1962 and is currently affiliated with 150 universities and 600 colleges, representing over 90,000 Muslim students.
Background
FOSIS plays an important role on the student and youth fronts, as it's one of the largest representative organisations of Muslim youth, and the largest representative group of Muslim students, in the UK and Ireland. FOSIS is affiliated to the
Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), the umbrella organisation for the majority of Muslim organisations in the UK.
News
- The group has challenged claims made by the Hindu Forum of Britain and the British Organization of Sikh Students that Hindu and Sikh students were being forced to convert to Islam on campuses, saying that if evidence would be produced for such forced conversions FOSIS is looking forward to working with those groups "to ensure that these sort of activities, if proven to exist, are dealt with.”
